Industrial chemistry
The Abel & Imray Industrial Chemistry team continues a long tradition of providing high-quality and expert IP advice to our clients in the chemical industry, a tradition which has continued unbroken for over a hundred years since the early days of the firm when work was first carried out for a number of companies in Europe's growing chemical industry.
The team members have expertise and experience across a wide variety of chemical areas, including speciality chemicals, agrochemicals, polymers and polymerisation technology, powder coatings, adhesives, inks, food technology, oil and gas processing technology, liquid crystal technology, microfluidics, liquid and gaseous waste processing, and also battery and fuel cell technology. A number of our team members are also involved in work in the pharmaceutical area.
Our clients in the chemical field include multinational corporations, as well as nationally recognised companies, SMEs, and academic institutions, in the UK and overseas. We handle European prosecution work for many UK and overseas, especially US, corporations. Many of our Group members are extensively involved in opposition and appeal proceedings before the EPO, and we frequently represent clients in hearings at the EPO. We handle the filing and prosecution of patent applications worldwide. We also frequently advise clients from other European countries in relation to infringement and other national matters in the UK.
We have an in-house translation department which has particular expertise in the translation of texts relating to chemical subject matter.
