Rhys has a degree in Physics and Philosophy from the University of Oxford and is a Member of the Institute of Physics. He has recently completed an MSc in Medical Physics with the Open University covering topics including X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, PET, and SPECT, imaging techniques, teletherapy and brachytherapy.
Rhys has worked extensively with University spin-out companies, in particular relating to LED technology and high-frequency measurement systems. This work has involved wide-ranging freedom to operate searches, IP audits, and patent landscape reviews. Further subject matter covered ranges from electronics to mechanics, including various aspects of aerospace technology. Rhys also handles an extensive patent portfolio for a large Chinese power-tool manufacturer.
For several years Rhys has run a patent drafting workshop at the Intellectual Property Office, helping new entrants to the profession develop their patent drafting skills. Rhys is based in the Cardiff office.
