Simon has a degree in Modern Languages from Oxford University. Before joining Abel & Imray in 1997 he spent four years in Spain as an English-language teacher and then as Director of Studies of a language school and as a translator/interpreter, and subsequently gained two years' commercial experience in a buying department in the head office of a large retail organisation. He became a Partner of the firm in 2002 and is based in the firm's London office. He is fluent in Spanish and French.
He is experienced in all aspects of trade mark work and advises frequently on contentious issues, including domain name disputes. He has been involved in major company acquisition and reorganisation work and has a detailed knowledge of Community Designs. Simon has lectured on European trade mark cases in recent years including lectures at two International Conferences of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA). From March 2007 to March 2011, he was elected to and served on the Council of ITMA and was the chair of both its Designs and PR & Communications Committees.
