Simon has a degree in Chemistry from the University of Bristol, and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the same University in the specialist area of liquid crystals. Having spent four years as a research scientist in liquid crystal display technology at the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency and, subsequently, five years in the patent profession within the Intellectual Property Rights Group of the Defence Procurement Agency, he joined Abel & Imray in 2003.

He handles patent work in the chemical and mechanical areas, as well as some biochemical work, and is involved in work in the medical device field. He has wide experience of the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in the European Patent Office and in the other major industrial countries. He has extensive experience of intellectual property agreements, with particular involvement in patent licensing and other patent-related agreements.

Simon is based in the Cardiff office.
